Ruly’s Information Technology management template application demonstrates how easy it is to create functional software quickly, without using code. This template contains many of the core applications that would be used to manage an IT department and its information security program.
The home dashboard below showcases all of the template elements in one central location. They can be used by an organization pursuing ISO 27001 certification as well as other security standards.
The Change Request form demonstrates a couple of features that are really simple to add to your own applications:
The Comments control shown on the right adds a section where users can add their comments to a record and communicate with other users.
The Subscription bell icon (shown in red) allows users to subscribe to individual records. Once subscribed they are notified whenever a change is made to a record.
Both of these features can be enabled on any data model by simply flipping a toggle.
The Tickets card demonstrates one of our favorite features, the Kanban control. A Kanban is such a great way to manage almost any process.
The Kanban view here is created by simply pivoting off the ticket status field.
A typical scenario for support tickets would be to have an escalation process if SLA’s are not met. Although not included in the template, it is easy to create this using a time-dependent rule.
In the example below, a rule fires 7 days after the case was opened.
In a past life, I kept meeting minutes in Word documents stored in Sharepoint. It even included a custom document approval process. Nothing against that platform, but there must be a better way.
There is!
Now you have a searchable and sortable database of all your records. The UI to manage this is created automatically by Ruly. The Chips and Tabs shown are auto-added to the form since Ruly knows how the data is linked.
Indicator charts are a great way to present important metrics and show how they are changing over time, but in a simple compact style.
They are easily created in Ruly by selecting a group by field, and a time period.
In this example, grouping by Month is used to show how many new tickets were created this month compared to last.
Corrective and Preventive Actions to be precise. The CAPA card links corrective actions to incidents.
Whenever there is an incident — something that disrupts operations or compromises security — there must always be at least one corrective action created.
Essential to any Information Security Program is keeping records of hardware and software assets. Company and customer information stored on laptops can be embarrassing and costly if it goes missing.
Keeping records is essential. If you don’t know what you have, how will you know if it goes missing?
I hope you find this simple template useful. Although it is designed as a base template application, it can be easily modified and extended to add more features and functionality. If you have any questions or comments, you can reach me at stan.marsden@rulyapp.com
