Hierarchy Security using Tree Filters

Last week we covered multi-tenant security setup. This week we’ll review an example on how to setup security using trees.

Trees in Ruly allow you to model hierarchical data structures like organizations, locations, or departments. This makes it easier to control visibility and access. When combined with row security, Trees allow you to define who can access specific levels in the hierarchy, ensuring users only see data relevant to their assigned branch.

For example, a user assigned to the Finance Department can automatically gain access to everything under that branch, while others are restricted to their own areas.

Setting up security with Trees gives administrators flexible, scalable control over how information is shared across teams and divisions.
